Two little hands
reach for mine.
A mouth two seats away yells.
A happy smile giggles.
Bright shiny eyes sparkle.
Glue is held up in the air.
A mask
embezzled with precious paper
crafted by sticky hands
covers sweaty faces.
As I walked away
I couldn’t help but think
that I hoped each one knew
that we had given them paper crowns
and received an even greater gift.
